A Metaphor for Dreaming - Peach

A Metaphor for Dreaming - Peach

If The Strokes were a jam band, they’d be @geesebandnyc. One of my favorite songs is “Opportunity is Knocking” from their album Projector. This song, in the band’s own words, is “an optimistic song about the pain of realizing the world is a terrible place, but being happy anyway.” There’s something beautiful about that to me—the notion of choosing happiness, choosing light despite the darkness.

So, I created a drink to match.

Recipe
• 1-½ oz Bristow Gin
• ¾ oz HooDoo Chicory Liqueur
• ½ oz blackberry-basil shrub*
• ¼ oz @farmersjamatl peach-basil syrup
• 1 whole egg

INSTRUCTIONS: Shake all ingredients without ice for 10 seconds. Add ice & shake again for 15 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with 3 cloves.

*SHRUB RECIPE: Combine 1C macerated blackberries & crushed basil leaves with granulated sugar (1:1). Let sit for up to 24 hours, then add equal parts white balsamic vinegar. Refrigerate for 2-3 days, stirring occasionally, then strain & bottle.

On August 12, 2024, Farmers Jam partnered with Adam aka @soundtrackmydrink as well as Victrola Record Players and Cathead Distillery for National Vinyl Record Day. Creators from across the country made a signature cocktail as a pairing to their favorite song from a jam band. Entertaining and delicious. Cheers!
